Color of the Week – Jan 30, 2012
The Color of the Week is my favorite – green! The photo is from my husband’s grandmother’s garden the last time we visited her. They are so sweet to my eyes today. I like most shades of green, except some really grungy olives. I especially like the greens of spring – the signs of new growth just make me smile. Green says “LIFE” to me. In my neighborhood, the pines are dark and the birches are bright. My hostas are somewhere in between. My love of green started in my 20s. Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. ~Pablo Picasso Did you love to draw as a child? Did you make things for your grandma out of construction paper? Sometimes ones happiness level can be increased simply by taking a nap in a warm spot. I prefer my big fleece blanket, my couch and the sun instead of a heat lamp and sawdust. I think my friend here is perfectly happy with his situation, though. When was the last time you took a nap? Do you have a preferred...

Shared joy is increased, shared pain is lessened. ~Spider Robinson There are many days when I believe that friendship is the key to survival. How I would manage without friends is a mystery to me. For me, the quote is really true. If I am happy or excited about something, I cannot wait to tell a friend and feel the joy all the more. When I have been in sorrow, it is friends that lift me up, pray for me and keep me from the pit of despair. I am also grateful for the times in between when life’s highs and lows are a bit more balanced. That’s when the heart is allowed...
